About Us
East Tennessee Health and Performance is a training gym with a focus on working with individuals to understand their unique goals to provide individualized training programs, nutrition coaching and strategic lifestyle upgrades to achieve those goals and needs.
We believe that every person that walks into our gym has their own unique mix of biological, psychological and social factors that has influenced their decision to work with us. To honor each individual’s experience, we work to create custom training programs and interventions to support their unique set of goals.
What is Individual Design?
With a templated or generic workout plan, there is likely just as much of a chance that you will see positive results as there is that you will see no results or even regress or find yourself injured. Generic plans are written more for a hypothetical person than a real person with real constraints. That’s where individual design comes in.
Working alongside one of our coaches, we work with you to create a plan that considers your training history, injury history, the reality of your schedule and lifestyle and any other factors that influence how you will show up for a training session. We want your training to be a pillar in the foundation that supports the rest of your life, not to be your primary focus.
We consistently check-in and maintain ongoing conversations around nutrition and lifestyle factors like stress, sleep, non-exercise activity and anything else that comes up as the coaching relationship develops.

Step 1: Come in and see if we’re a fit for you
Schedule a visit to see first-hand what the training experience is like and to have a conversation that helps us better understand each other and what it will look like to work together.
Step 2: Understanding you and how you move
Our first priority is to have a thorough conversation and a detailed movement assessment before we put your training plan together. Without understanding where you are, we don’t know where to begin to guide you to where you want to go.
We care about how the information we find shapes your unique experience. Investing the time up front creates the opportunity to see results soon after you begin training.
Step 3: Train with us
Train when it makes sense for you, not solely when you can fit in a class or when your schedule aligns perfectly with a personal trainer’s. There will always be one of our coaches around to oversee and assist when you need us.
You will quickly find that the opportunity for building relationships, networking and simply enjoying yourself in our facility brings a lot of the same energy as a group class, without the baggage of gritting through the things that don’t align with your goals.
Step 4: Live your life
Your time in the gym is a small portion of your day-to-day life. If you train for one hour, three days per week, that is less than 2% of your week’s time. Your time in the gym is intended to have an outsized impact relative to the amount of time you will spend inside the facility and we want you to fully leverage your investment.
We want you to get outdoors in the sun, move freely in the world, savor time with your people doing the things you love and genuinely feel empowered to live your life as you see fit.
